Merry Christmas...
from all of us at Finishers!

Our Christmas Present To You!

For 6 years the Finishers website has been a wealth of help and information for all of us looking to connect with a new ministry role. Thousands of mid-life adults have used the resources and filled out the profile portion, seeking a good fit for their future.

Introducing our NEW WEBSITE!

On December 15 a new, upgraded site, using the "community feel" more helpful in today's web-world, will roll out...our Christmas gift to all of us looking to make a difference with how we invest our lives!  Check us out, at the same website address, www.finishers.org on the 15th. While much of what we have planned will be up and running on that date, we will gradually be adding many more features and tools designed to be of significant help to all on this journey.

Amass Experiences, not Possessions

According to an article in the November 25, 2008 issue of Iconoculture, Boomers are shifting their focus from amassing "possessions" to amassing "experiences." Quoting John A. Quelch from Harvard Business Publishing, 10/15/08, we now have a new moniker to apply to a portion of the multi-faceted Boomers, that being "The Simplifier." A Simplifier downsizes because of a desire to do so, not because they have to. They look at all their stuff and are becoming embarrassed instead of proud.

But in place of the 'stuff' these Simplifiers still want to gather something of value...just not 'things.' One of the new desires is to amass experiences, for instance, foreign travel. Groups that offer a quality experience combined with social responsibility will be sought out, according to Iconoculture."

With that in mind, listen to this testimony from a couple who found their "quality experience" through Finishers:

"We never dreamed God could find a place to use ALL our talents and then give us even more...as usual we were afraid to ask so big! We just said yesterday, this isn't like work, (we both had jobs for well over 30 years), this is like a four year vacation!"

These comments from another couple "having the time of their life" are indicative of the great desire among so many Boomers to make a difference in the latter years of life. We want to impact our world in a significant way.  That's why Finishers exists...to connect people with significant ministry roles that make a difference now...and for eternity as we touch lives!

MissionConneXion

Mark your calendar and be sure that you make plans to attend the MissionConneXion event in Portland on January 16 & 17. This is an annual event for people of all ages who are passionate about advancing the work of God's Kingdom. Scores of valuable workshops, energy-filled plenary sessions and personally enriching encounters can help connect you with kingdom-stretching opportunities worldwide!

Finishers will be there holding several workshops and will be available to answer your questions about this journey to significance. Look for us at the Finishers display area and in our workshops.

In conjunction with this event, Finishers is taking the opportunity to have a board meeting on the 15th and also a Partners Meeting on the morning of the 16th. These Partners meetings are a special get-acquainted, training and informational time for the mission agencies who partner with us. Finishers wants to make the most of every opportunity, so plans are also being made for our Director of Church Partnerships to host a luncheon for missions pastors and church missions team leaders.
